”I love your ideas on building global tolerance through children. I think that is genius – and there should be more organizations such as this one.”

”I just recently learned about your organization and a firmly believe in what you are doing. Kids today need to be told how valuable they are as often as possible. The Pen Pal program is the perfect way to help them feel good about themselves by connecting them with someone who will let them know they are not alone, someone who will build them up no matter what they are going through.

I would love to be able to help connect children with a pen pal. I did this with adults a few years ago, and a lot of them are now good friends even though they have never met in person.”

Sincerely,

Jill Mackie

”So, that’s a little bit about Abby. She’s a great kid…and is very enthusiastic about meeting someone new across the country. I think writing to someone will help her to keep her writing skills up, without seeing it as a school assignment…but rather, something that she enjoys. I personally think it’s a great opportunity to teach her generation about the lost art of writing letters.”

Mom of Amazing Kids! PenPal

Testimonial from a former Volunteer:

”I would like to tell you about my personal HERO… Alyse Rome.

My life has changed since I have met Alyse Rome, Founder & President of Amazing Kids!. Although I have not met her in person, we speak via email and telephone nearly every day. I am now a volunteer for Amazing Kids!. Not only has this changed my life, but the life of my 7 year old daughter, Paige. After Paige was on the Amazing Kids! Website, she decided to write a book for Amazing Kids!. My daughter Paige amazed me. She wrote a very interesting book and I still read it every day! Because of Alyse, Paige realizes her amazing potential.

If you could please take the opportunity to look over www.amazing-kids.org you will see the amazing kids that Alyse has helped realize their amazing potential. Not only has Alyse changed my life, but many children throughout the United States. Some of the things you will see are listed below.

Alyse is very passionate about children and is concentrating on matching children that are hurricane survivors up with PenPals. We are desperately trying to contact schools in Louisiana and Texas and make them aware of Amazing Kids!. Alyse has been running Amazing Kids! entirely on her own. She does have several supporters but the bulk of the work is on her shoulders. She is in the process of writing grants and she is also trying to contact the media to let them know about Amazing Kids! in hope that the hurricane affected states will see the show and the students will sign up to be a pen pal.

Amazing Kids! (www.amazing-kids.org) is a web-based children’s educational 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to help children realize their own amazing potential, which we believe all children have. The pen pal initiative is part of our Amazing Mentors! program, which helps connect children with mentors, either “peer mentors” as in the case of our PenPal initiative, or adult mentors who are professionals working in a field that interests the student.”

I think this program is a wonderful idea, and if I had an opportunity like his when I was younger, it would have definitely impacted a lot of my decisions in school and work.

All the best,”

”Hi there:

My name is Cassie and I found your organization through the web. I am very interested in becoming a mentor. I grew up in a small town in Washington state with a lot of hardships due to my family circumstances. But against all the odds, I was somehow determined to accomplish what I wanted to.

I really believe that I have endured a lot and life would have been much easier for me had I had a mentor to keep me motivated. Instead I was left to do it on my own and fortunately I still came out ahead.

Please contact me about becoming a mentor.

Thank you for your time and thank you for providing your organization. I hope you realize how many people you are affecting!”

”To Ms Rome, From Anosha

Dear Ms Rome,

Thanks so much for that positive e-mail. I loved it. I’ve read it 10 times now.

”I found your site as I was searching the internet for some fantastic sites..I succeeded!

Well anyway the nationality of my name is Pakistani. My parents chose it. Here is one of my other poems I would like you to read.

I’m leaving you good memories ,

Of the time that we prayed,

O the time that we laughed,

Of the time that we played

I’m leaving you good memories of the time I was a kid,

Let’s not get apart, God forbid.

Yet when I’m leaving I won’t forget you,

Cause you’re my childhood,

And I’ve understood you

But like things come they have to go,

And in my heart your memories won’t blow

When I remember you I won’t shred that tear,

But I’ll try to remember you without any fear,

I hope you’ll be there.

I dedicated this poem to Anson(my primary school)

and it’s called

”Memories”

Anyway I hope to stay in contact with you because I think

you’re a lovely Lady.

Best wishes in the future,”

”I would love to be a reviewer for your magazine. I love writing short stories and I am working on a piece especially for your magazine. I think that reviewing other’s work would help me with my own writing. When I read stories it helps me get ideas for my own writing. I think by reviewing other kid’s wonderful work it would help my imagination grow and expand so I can write better stories. Thank you for taking the time to read my email.”

”Hello from Canada

Amazing Kids!, what a terrific idea. A positive source of direction and support for children can only be good.

I found your site while looking for Wayne Fromm, the inventor and one of your Amazing Mentors. As you can see from the attached article, Wayne has always been involved in helping others.

Amazing Kids!, good luck with your project. With people like Wayne on your team, there’s no doubt you’ll be successful.

Happy trails…”

”I run preventative life-skills education programmes for children aged 5-13 years old in Palmerston North, New Zealand. I was wondering if I am able to print and use materials from the website to help to teach the children to give their best in every area of their lives, and to use their gifts and talents to help other to do the same…”

”Our magazine is a vision that God gave us of a magazine that is filled with inspirational stories. I sat down at my computer this morning to start to write an article entitled “Is youth wasted on the young?” I went to the web to search for amazing stories about older people who are now doing youthful feats (ie jumping out of planes, abseiling down canyons etc), thinking that I would write an inspiring article about why you are never too old to do something youthful. Then I found your article in Amazing Kids! and I realised that perhaps instead of featuring older people trying to rekindle their youth, maybe God was trying to show me that there are young people doing extraordinary things that are inspiring and that we should be featuring these.

So, that brings me to why I am writing to you. I thought that I would write to you and ask if we could feature your story and some of your artwork in our magazine. We have no funds at this stage to pay for the article—this will be our very first edition, but we would be happy to run an advertisement at no cost that features your website address and contact details. Would you be willing to let us share your story with others?”

“Hi Alyse!

”I have just spent some rare free moments perusing your Amazing Kids! web site. WOW!!! I do believe it is the best web site I have EVER seen! A truly AMAZING effort. I have to admit, I am not patient with this medium, so do not cruise the internet often. Your cite makes me yearn for a fiber optics system that will speed things up. So much to explore on your

cite…and a great help for future grant writing…

I enjoyed the story about the kids in Hawaii…I could surely use their services and expertise about now in setting up our new art gallery, cafe and multicultural center!”

”Alyse

I stumbled across your website quite by chance and I was really encouraged by what you are doing. I read your idea for a TV program and I just wanted to feed back to you that I had the same idea about 12 years ago and have been sitting on it waiting for the right opportunity.

I’m telling you all this to encourage you that as a parent I recognise the need for interesting, educational and inspiring programs for our children. Mine are 8, 7, 5, and 3. I would like an alternative to Disney!

I applaud you in your achievements of a wonderful and inspiring website, and I encourage you to make this program happen.

You can do it; you can do it, if you put your mind to it!”
